Jen-ai's best seller and bound to become your favorite river, beach & backcountry skirt; the Oarswoman is made to withstand the adventures of guiding professionals. Its elegant design keeps you looking good whereever you go. Our friend Marci has even taken hers canyoneering and says it was great harness and all. Three slits make big steps over the gear pile and leaps across the side creek easy. The knee skirt features our comfort wide wasitband with a side tie and velcro fly with soft cord eyes instead of hard eyelets. Our signature hip grip™ holes let you clip or tie your bottoms to your skirt when skirt spin is unwelcome. The full sized pocket fits your ipod and cash easily; the stash flap is zippered with a key loop for serious security.
FABRIC: Our orchid Oarwoman knee skirt is made with our bomber rePlay™ fabric here in Colorado! The fabric is 100% PET polyester from recycled bottles. It's ultra-durable, windproof, lightweight, dries instantly, and does not stretch. "It feels like you're wearing nothing!" And each knee skirt keeps approximately 10 plastic bottles out of landfills. We recommend washing cold and line drying to reduce energy consumption.

*Let me preface with it gets 4 stars simply because I have NOT hiked in the skirt yet.*
Hello everyone! Just wanted to check in and give a brief review of one of Swiftwater Skirt's products. In today's mail was my beautiful Orchid colored Oarswoman Skirt. The color is an attractive, bright not quite purple, not quite hot pink..it is true to color as shown in the catalogue. At first glance, my impression was yikes! what a neat product! It is nothing like any product I've ever worn. Its pale -ish turquoise stitching and tie closure are a nice contrast to the skirt and altogether its a cute skirt.
The skirt is well made with even top stitching and reinforced stitching in areas where needed. I particularly liked the hidden pocket within a pocket. I did not really think it would fit, however I was pleasantly surprised to find that it does!! I like the large waistband and the offset velcro and tie closure. The skirt is just the right length breaking just below my kneecap and the slits are right in line with knee/leg making it easy to walk without impediment. When I bend over it even still covers my behind although I will wear some kind of under garment/wicking tight type pants thing to be determined underneath it. Since I will use mine for hiking I'll have to do some trying on to see what will work the best. Wonder what the little button holes are for though?! :)
The material is light and airy and I believe would be cool to wear. However, and Jen-ai will have to say for sure but it also seems like it would have some wind breaking properties which for a hiker like me will help with blocking the wind on cooler days. We'll see if it is water repellant...if so that is SWEET because I just got myself a marginal rainskirt!!
Altogether, I would recommend this product upon first inspection but will update the list after I take it out for a spin. No doubt, with this Orchid skirt on I will not be getting lost and here in Ohio I am sure I will attract no small amount of attention when I hike! I have no doubt that this would be a terrific paddling garment (having spent just a little time on the water :) I will happily pass on my thoughts as I test it further but I think y'all better get in line because these things are going to go fast.
Good job, Jen-ai, for making a nice product and for the giving back to the community. Good luck!!

I have the black version and LOVE it. It travels like a champ and works great over swim wear at the beach. It's nice enough to wear out to restaurants, too (I've even worn it to work a couple times). I love the fact that it repels everything--coffee, water, food items, etc--and is so comfortable and well ventilated. The freedom of movement lets me wear it on my cruiser!
